Urgent Help -Flood Victims-Mbale & Famine Karamoja
Story
Food, famine have become a big threat in Eastern Uganda, most affected residents are struggling to survive. Starvation is going largely unnoticed as higher-profile crises, including looming famine in the Horn of Africa, and the war in Ukraine, compel global attention. "If we don't do something right now then if they survive by chance,then we don't expect very good human capability, and capital in the future. A week ago Mt Elgon region-Mbale many lives and property lost. Victims need urgent help!
Impact
What you need to know? The most affected district's are in Koramoja, Mt Elgon areas.. Four in every 10 victims have no food and shelter. Food relief alone will not be enough to solve the problem. SHARE NGO calls for a concerted efforts of all development partners, and volunteers to help in this areas experiencing long draughts, periodic landslides. Women and children are most affected , animals have as well been the victims of the floods, nothing was left untouched, roads, bridges destroyed.
Challenge
More than half a million people are critically affected, Flood's have made over 1millon people lacking food, shelter and clothing. Being regions prone to dissaters. plagues of locusts and armyworms, and raids by heavily armed cattle thieves are among other factors that have left little to eat. Across the region, about 91,600 children and 9,500 pregnant or breastfeeding women are suffering. Anxious Local leadership expressed fears that elderly residents , babies are likely to die from starvation!
