Rehabilitate Wallabies & Other Native Wildlife
Story
Sydney Wildlife Rescue is an Australian organization run 100% by volunteers. Sydney Wildlife is tirelessly working to rescue our native wildlife affected by natural and human disasters. Our rescue hot line takes over 13,000 calls a year of wildlife needing our help. We need to ensure these animals have the best care possible allowing them to be rehabilitated and returned to the wild.
Impact
We need to do all we can to help as many of these injured and orphaned animals to ensure a future where Australia's unique wildlife still exists for future generations. We also educate the public about wildlife and how to preserve their habitat. Our mobile wildlife care unit is also up and running now staffed by volunteer vets, we are now able to help more wildlife and attend disasters such as the recent fires.
Challenge
By building suitable large fenced areas and enclosures simulating their natural habitat, it provides a safe environment for the animals to complete their rehabilitation and develop their natural skills without the threat of predators. This allows the animals to be acclimatised to the fitness and diets required before they are released back into the wild. Achieving this cost Money.
