Protecting 1469 Yemeni children from malnutrition
Story
Yemeni people face the risk of malnutrition, especially pregnant and lactating women and girls and children under 5 years old. This project will reduce levels of malnutrition by 2020 through community-oriented strategy .Supporting proper nutrition, health care, teaching women and raising community awareness are vital pillars in the project that will reduce excess morbidity and mortality caused by malnutrition amongst 285 of children under 5 years of age and 639 of pregnant and lactating women.
Impact
The project will educate 9 workers in the programs of ( immunization, reproductive health, child health and nutrition) which , in turn, will be reflected positively on targeted people's health and well-being. The project will reduce of excess morbidity and mortality caused by malnutrition among 1,469 children U5 years of age and 639 pregnant and lactating women (plw).
Challenge
Malnutrition is a real risk threatening the life of Yemeni people especially pregnant and lactating women, girls and children under 5 years old. Nearly four years of conflict and severe economic decline are driving the country to the brink of famine and exacerbating needs in all sectors. Two-thirds of all districts in the country are already pre-famine, and one-third face a convergence of multiple acute vulnerabilities.
