New Rescue Vehicle to Save Street Animals
Story
We need a new Rescue Vehicle to collect and transport sick and injured animals to our animal hospital in rural Rajasthan, India. TOLFA has been saving the lives of street animals since 2005. We have a busy hospital able to care for 600 patients at a time. We have increased the number of street treatments which now keeps one of our existing vehicles occupied. We need a new Rescue Vehicle to attend to emergency rescue calls and take sick animals back to our hospital for treatment and care.
Impact
With this new vehicle we will have 2 Rescue Vehicles (like animal ambulances to transport serious cases such as victims of road traffic accidents, to hospital) AND a Street Treatment Vehicle which will be able to go out, like a mobile clinic, to provide treatment to animals with minor complaints. This will mean we will have more space at the hospital for serious cases and other animals can be more comfortably treated in their own environment. We receive up to 50 emergency rescue calls every day.
Challenge
In 2021 TOLFA's Rescue & Care Project helped 13,496 street animals in need of veterinary care. As the number of animals that need our help keeps rising and we only have capacity for 600 patients at our hospital, we have done more street treatments in recent years. In 2021 6,513 animal were admitted and 6,983 were treated on the street. One of our vehicles is now committed to Street Treatments so we need a new vehicle, to join our other one, to transport animals to our hospital for treatment.
