Low-cost Sanitation for Typhoon Odette Survivors
Story
We will replicate the activities we did when Typhoon Haiyan devastated Leyte by providing low-cost pour-flush toilets, water filters and water systems this time for families affected by Typhoon Odette. We will target 1,500 families in the provinces of Southern Leyte and Surigao.
Impact
We aim to provide safe sanitation and prevent the spread of water-borne diseases in the devastated areas as a result of Super Typhoon Odette. This is a very urgent need that is often overlooked and not responded to.
Challenge
Super Typhoon Odette destroyed lives and livelihoods and laid waste many communities in the Visayas and Mindanao. The urgent need which is open of low priority by humanitarian actors is the provision of low-cost sanitation for the poorest of the poor. Our project in installing low-cost latrines for families as well as providing water filters and the repair of gravity-fed water system.
