Let's Help Syrian Refugee Children in Serbia Now!
Story
Over 650,000 refugees from Middle East, mainly from Syria, have entered Serbia over the last 18 months and are still coming in hundreds on daily basis. Amongst them are more than 200,000 children and over 5,000 of them are unaccompanied ones. We are trying to help them stay physically and mentally healthy. Alongside humanitarian aid, we are also trying to develop an online Q&A list for their protection, information and education on how and where they can seek medical, legal and social help.
Impact
The arrival of refugees on daily basis is not expected to seize in the coming months, so saving their lives, health and assistance to their families during their long journey to safety will help both them and the authorities in all the countries they go to. Mobile Q&A list, applications for phones for children, youth and mothers will help them (especially unaccopmanied children, but also others that will be coming in the coming weeks and months.
Challenge
Tens of thousands of families are forced to stay longer in Serbia than they planned to and now they are facing difficult situation. They are sleeping under the open skies, in the first-aid shelters and at good-will people's homes where children and women are facing even higher health risks. There is an urgent need for humanitarian aid to prevent humanitarian catastrophe at even larger scale. So far, we have been helping these people ourselves, but the scale of the disaster is overwhelming now.
