Food and Emergency Support for Internal Refugees
Story
We will provide food and emergency support for internal refugees in order for them to survive and rebuild their lives. Several factors has increased the number of internal refugees in recent years and these are climate change that results to more severe and frequent typhoons, massive soil loss resulting to poor crops, drying of rivers and waterways but flooding during monsoon rains, insurgency in the countryside and general malaise and lawlessness.
Impact
Climate change and a host of other negative situation impacts vulnerable communities and there is a need to provide proactive solution in order for families to withstand the negative impact of displacement. We will do this by providing solution to immediate needs while providing long-term support in rebuilding their lives.
Challenge
Internal refugees or displaced individuals and families from their communities are very vulnerable and have difficulty rebuilding their lives. The confluence of factors such as severe storms due to climate change, long dry season and long wet season, drying of rivers, siltation and loss of fertility of the soil and biodiversity loss among other factors are contributory to displacement and disenfranchisement of local communities. This phenomenon will continue as the years go by.
