Empower 1000 vulnerable women for work in Colombia
Story
The unemployment rate for women in Colombia has exceeded 25% -10 points above the same rate for men, and the highest in the region. There are 7.1 million unemployed female heads of household who have been the most affected by the pandemic, risking the progress achieved in gender equality in recent decades. Our project provides an integral environment to empower women for them to reactivate economically, by supporting them on four fronts related to their coaching and training as entrepreneurs.
Impact
Colombia has adhered to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and has established its agenda for 2030. This project aims to impact, in one year, the lives of 100 women, and indirectly their families and communities. Empowering these women so they can subsist in a dignified manner will mean less poverty, and higher possibilities of education for their children. In the long term, this will contribute to the achievement of the country's SDG, and will have a positive impact socially and economically.
Challenge
Effects of COVID on monetary poverty, in female heads of household. The unemployment rate for women is over 10 points above the unemployment rate for men, and the highest in South America. There are currently about 7.1 million unemployed female heads of household in Colombia. Women are the most disproportionately affected by the pandemic, risking that the progress achieved in gender equality in recent decades will be lost and that the gap in gender inequalities related to work will broaden more.
