Story

This project will help us provide basic food for the poorest children in Serbia who, with schools being closed, have lost the only secure daily meal. It will also give them access to the online education being provided but which they cannot follow without internet, electricity or any other remote learning resource. With the state of emergency and lock-down their parents have lost any opportunity to earn any money. We need to help their children get food, stay healthy and keep learning.

Impact

The long term impact will be to overcome this traumatic period with as little trauma as possible, to help these children stay healthy and able to learn and continue their education.

Challenge

Children, living near or below the poverty line were already struggling. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, since March 16, a state of emergency and lock-down have been active in Serbia. Parents' ability to earn a basic living for themselves and their children has been compromised. Schools have shut down, leaving many poor children with no access to school canteen and the only secure daily meal. With no money arriving, internet access and electricity are cut and thus their access to education is lost
